The key role of Fáilte Ireland is to support and help the industry to meet the challenges facing the entire global tourism market and to sustain, or increase, the level of activity in the sector.

We are primarily a catalyst of other people’s activity. We support the industry in its efforts to be more competitive and more profitable. As the State’s tourism development authority, we are well placed to address some of the broader issues that need to be tackled if the industry is to grow and to develop.

Our emphasis is on strategic partnership, with all the interests in Irish tourism at national, local and regional levels working together towards a common goal.

Fáilte Ireland’s range of supports and services provides those involved, or considering becoming involved in Irish tourism, with a one-stop-shop to meet their business or professional needs. Working in partnership with the industry, Fáilte Ireland will meet the industry’s needs, leading and supporting Irish tourism in its next phase of development.

The purpose of this system, and the department within Fáilte Ireland that supports it, is to allow Fáilte Ireland to, as efficiently as possible, assist Irish tourism businesses to meet overseas tour operators, travel agents and consumers, with a view to generating business, in a more cost-effective way than they could by going it alone.

To achieve this objective, on an annual basis, Fáilte Ireland organises in-Ireland workshops, bringing overseas buyers into Ireland to meet with Irish sellers; puts together seminars to help companies to increase knowledge of their markets; and co-ordinates participation at selected in-Ireland and overseas trade and consumer shows. In doing all of this, we work in close collaboration with Tourism Ireland.
